This Privacy Policy explains how CombDesk™ collects, uses, stores and protects your information. CombDesk is operated by Sparxnovate B.V. on behalf of the CombDesk product family, with infrastructure and engineering services provided by Sparxnovate LLC. By using CombDesk, you consent to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: when you sign up, we collect your email address and a secure authentication record managed by our backend service.
• Search queries and results: we collect the questions you submit, the answers CombDesk generates, and the sources and citations used. Signed-in users can access this information as Comb History.
• Device and usage data: we collect browser type, device type, language preference, approximate location derived from IP address (country only), pages visited and features used.
• Cookies and local storage: we use cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your language choice and support the progressive web app experience.
• Business profile information: if you claim a company profile, we collect your work email domain and the profile edits you submit.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to operate and improve CombDesk; to generate answers and citations; to authenticate you and keep your account secure; to remember your preferences, including language; to communicate with you about your account, verification and support requests; to enforce our Terms of Service; and to comply with legal obligations.

3. Legal basis for processing

For users in the European Economic Area and similar regions, we process personal data on the basis of contract performance, legitimate interest in operating and securing the service, and consent where required. You may withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account or adjusting your browser settings.

4. How we share your information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with trusted service providers who help us run CombDesk, such as our backend hosting provider and AI/LLM providers that process search queries to generate answers. These providers are bound by confidentiality and security obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.

5. Data retention

We keep your search history and account information for as long as your account is active. You can delete individual combs from your history or delete your entire account. Anonymous or aggregated data used for service improvement may be retained longer, but it is not linked to you personally.

6. International transfers

CombDesk is operated globally. Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the Netherlands. When we transfer personal data from the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

7. CombDesk Verify membership and checks

CombDesk Verify applicants provide a legal name, account type, organisation and registration details where applicable, billing address and a public verification reference. CombDesk Vkey compares that reference with the submitted details and records its result and reason. Business and individual verification uses lawful sources, purpose limitation, consent where required, privacy controls and visible data provenance. A person makes the final access decision. You may challenge incorrect information through the contact channel on combdesk.com. Payment status and membership-review events are retained for administration, security and audit.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or export your personal data; to object to or restrict certain processing; and to lodge a complaint with a data protection authority. To exercise these rights, contact us through the channel listed on combdesk.com.

9. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, secure authentication and access controls. No method of transmission over the Internet is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

10. Children's privacy

CombDesk is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected data from a child, please contact us so we can delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of the page shows the current version. We will notify users of significant changes through the service or by email.
